Kitesurfer Jumps Over A Flying Plane! (world first)🛩️
Red Bull has released footage of an unusual stunt involving big-air kitesurfer Lasse Walker and Red Bull Air Race pilot Łukasz Czepiela. Filmed along the coast of Cape Town, South Africa, the project involved Walker jumping his kiteboard over a low-flying airplane, which the team describes as a world first.
The maneuver required precise timing and specific environmental factors. Walker used a breaking wave as a ramp to gain the necessary elevation, while Czepiela flew the aircraft at a very low altitude. Headwinds were utilized to keep the plane’s ground speed low enough for the kitesurfer to clear the fuselage safely. Despite challenging weather conditions on the day of the attempt, both athletes relied on their respective aerial experience to coordinate the timing. The clip provides a look at the technical coordination required between a kiteboarder and a stunt pilot when operating in close proximity within a high-wind coastal environment.
