Kitesurfing massive waves in Mauritius
Giel Vlugt and Stig Hoefnagel teamed up for this project, documented by Antonio (Skatermanco), to see if they could handle massive swell and strong winds in Mauritius. Maarten Haeger also joined the group for several missions as they looked for the biggest waves on the surface while exploring the life underneath. The production, titled Mare Vivum, was powered by Capitalcom and Vantage Kites.
The footage covers their arrival and an initial wave session before moving into a second mission in the deep blue. They also headed to the north of the island and spent time climbing Le Morne for a sunset session. The group focuses on the importance of respecting nature and the ocean throughout the trip. It is a solid look at what happens when a crew chases humongous swell and explores why the title refers to the sea as a living thing. There is plenty of action from the different spots they hit during the journey.
