Appletree Surfboards began on the Buurma family's apple-tree farm in the Netherlands, where brothers Wieger and Jorrit experimented with board construction before founding the company full time in 2016. The brand moved production to Portugal in 2019 and is known for durable, lightweight foil and kite surfboards. It does not make twin-tip kiteboards.
