Can You Kitesurf Across the North Sea? (Belgium to UK)
The team at Offshore media released a documentary detailing an ambitious crossing attempt from August 2025. In the film, Ward Verstappen, Sebastiaan Haven, and Alexander Tanghe ask the question, can you kitesurf across the North Sea? Their route took them from the Belgian coast to the United Kingdom, covering a distance of over 130 kilometers.
The three athletes became the first Belgians to complete the crossing, landing in England after 4 hours and 55 minutes on the water. The footage covers the logistical preparation and the specific risks involved in crossing one of the busiest shipping lanes in Europe. While managing heavy traffic and changing weather, the team used the crossing as a way to raise funds for clean water initiatives in Madagascar. The production follows the entire process, including the work of the support crew led by captain Quentin Deraedt and safety coordinator Victor Vandenbulcke.
