Who we are, what we publish, the numbers behind it, and how to use our name and logo.
What KitesurfingOfficial is
KitesurfingOfficial is an independent kitesurfing publication and community platform, founded in 2022 and run from Munich by Philip Heuhserer. There is no publishing house behind it and no investor: the site is a business name, not a company, and the editorial responsibility under German media law (§ 18(2) MStV) sits with one named person.
The site covers the sport in four directions at once. It reports the scene through Scene News and the Journal, teaches it through the Learn guides and tools, catalogues the equipment through the Kite and Board Index, and maps where to ride through the spot atlas and the Trusted Network of schools, shops, camps and stays. A rider forum and athlete profiles sit alongside all of it.
Everything is published in English, German and Brazilian Portuguese, which is unusual in this sport and the reason a German kite school and a Brazilian rider can be reading the same spot page in their own language.

What sits on the platform
An open spot dataset
More than 1,250 kite spots with country, difficulty, wind reliability, best months and coordinates, published as JSON at /data/spots.json. Free to use with attribution, including for research and for other apps.
Gear scored on one scale
The Kite Index and Board Index rate every model on ten fixed criteria from 1 to 10, with specs, sizes and model years. The catalogue is re-checked automatically twice a week, and brands maintain their own products through a portal.
Teaching material, not listicles
122 tricks with prerequisites, steps, common mistakes and bail-outs, and an 82-term glossary where each entry runs to a full explanation with an example. Both in all three languages.
A directory nobody can buy into
Schools, shops, camps and stays are verified by editorial review, never by payment, and the trust levels are documented publicly.
How we work
Coverage is never for sale. A brand, school, event or rider cannot buy a story, a score or an award, and any paid placement is labelled as paid and kept visually separate from reporting.
We use AI tools in research, drafting and translation, and we say so on the page. Editorial responsibility for what gets published sits with a named person, not with a tool, and the editorial standards page sets out where that line runs. A claim we cannot support from a source stays out of the piece.
When we get something wrong we correct it in the open, with a dated note, and we never quietly delete an article to hide a mistake.
Logo, name and images
Logo lockups, brand guidelines and high-resolution photography are available on request. Use of the KitesurfingOfficial mark requires written approval.
The name is one word, KitesurfingOfficial, with both capitals. Please do not recolour, stretch or rebuild the logo, and do not place it in a way that suggests we endorse a product, a business or an event.
Screenshots of the site may be used in reporting about us, with a credit and a link to the page shown. Rider and event photography on the site is licensed to us or supplied by the rights holder, so we usually cannot pass it on. Ask us and we will point you at the photographer.
