FAQ

Frequently asked

How much do kitesurf instructors earn?+

Most kitesurf instructors earn between €1,200 and €2,500 per month depending on the region, season and experience — often plus commission per lesson, and frequently with accommodation, meals and gear use included. Destination schools in Brazil, Zanzibar or Cape Verde tend to pay less in cash but include more benefits; European summer seasons usually pay more. Every job on this board lists what the business actually offers.

Do I need an IKO or VDWS license to teach kitesurfing?+

Almost every kite school requires a recognized instructor certification — IKO is the most widespread internationally, VDWS dominates at German-speaking schools and many European centers. Each accepts candidates with strong riding skills into instructor training courses (ITCs). Job listings here state which license the school requires.

When do kite schools hire for the season?+

European schools (Tarifa, Greece, Sicily, the North Sea) hire from January to April for the May–September season. Winter destinations (Cape Town, Brazil, Zanzibar, Egypt) recruit from August to October. Year-round spots hire continuously. Jobs on this board are never older than three months, so everything you see is actively hiring.

What jobs exist in the kitesurfing industry besides teaching?+

Plenty: center and station managers, camp hosts, shop and rental staff, boat drivers and rescue crew, repair technicians, photographers and content creators, marketing roles at kite brands, and seasonal all-rounders. Filter this board by role to see what's open beyond instructor positions.

How do I apply for a job on this board?+

Directly with the business — every listing has an apply button that opens the school's or brand's chosen channel: email, application form, WhatsApp or phone. Browsing is free; to see the contact details and apply you just need a free rider account. KitesurfingOfficial is not the employer; we verify the businesses in our Trusted Network and keep the board fresh, the hiring happens between you and them.
