Kitesurfing the Cook Islands
Stig Hoefnagel recently posted a film documenting a trip to the Cook Islands with Ellie Dimitrova. The project focuses heavily on Aitutaki, a remote atoll in the Pacific that the pair had been planning to visit for a decade. The footage, captured and edited by Andy Troy, covers several locations including Rarotonga, Honeymoon Island, and One Foot Island. While there is plenty of riding, including a tow-up and a freeride session, the edit also highlights the local environment. Stig and Ellie spent time looking at the coral reefs to learn about the restoration efforts currently underway to protect the lagoon. The video includes segments on the local community and whale watching, framed around the importance of preserving these ecosystems for the future. Gear support for the trip came from Flysurfer, Naish, Brunotti, and Prolimit.
