North Kiteboarding just released some technical details regarding their new N-u80 material, which is the high-modulus fabric used in the construction of the Orbit Ultra. This new composite comes out of their Advanced Textiles Division and uses a 100% Ultra PE weave. According to the brand, this material has five times the tensile strength of standard polyester while remaining significantly lighter.

The goal with this is N-u80 development was to create a leading edge that is up to 50% lighter than traditional builds. North claims the stiffness allows the airframe to hold its shape under heavy loads while still maintaining a progressive twist during turns. They noted that the technology was already put through its paces at King of the Air before this official release. It looks like a significant shift in how they are approaching their high-performance big air gear.
