Leon shared joint first place in the wind-shortened Abu Dhabi semi-finals and, per the GKA, beat reigning champion Kajiya in their heat there, fully fit again after her ACL injury. At the Taiba finale she continued her powerful comeback to take 2nd in the world championship.

The GKA framed her as hungry for the win and the title throughout the season.
