Phu Quy Island

Phu Quy Island is an adventurous alternative to Vietnam’s more established spots. Located offshore from Phan Thiet, it rewards independent riders who prioritize space and exploration. The conditions consist of open ocean swell, chop, and some reef-influenced sections, best suited for freeriders and wave enthusiasts. The wind season follows the NE monsoon from November to April, providing strong and consistent conditions. Infrastructure is basic, with local guesthouses and minimal kite-specific facilities, so bringing your own gear and being self-sufficient is necessary. Guiding is highly recommended for first-timers. Logistically, the island is reached by ferry, and riders must be comfortable with remote conditions, limited rescue services, and sharp reef in some areas. It is far less "plug-and-play" than Mui Ne, making it perfect for those wanting to escape the crowds and find a more raw Vietnamese experience.
