About this spot
Tarifa is the undisputed kite capital of Europe, centered around the expansive beaches of Los Lances and Valdevaqueros. The area is powered by two primary wind systems: the strong, offshore Levante (Easterly) and the cooler, onshore Poniente (Westerly). The conditions vary from flat water and chop to breaking waves depending on the tide and specific beach location. It is a first-rate destination for big air, freestyle, and freeride, supported by an extensive network of schools, shops, and rescue services. The main season runs from April to October. Riders should be prepared for high crowd levels in peak summer and very intense wind speeds during strong Levante days. Zoned kiting areas are strictly enforced during the summer months to manage beach safety.
