Can businesses pay to win a KSO Award?
No. Award eligibility is determined entirely by profile quality, verification status, community signals and editorial review. Featured Partner is a separate commercial placement and is never connected to award eligibility or scoring.
What is the difference between Featured Partner and KSO Awarded?
Featured Partner is a paid visibility placement, clearly labeled on every listing. KSO Awarded is an editorial recognition based on trust signals, profile quality and community ratings. A Featured Partner may not qualify for an award if their profile quality does not meet the criteria.
How can a kite school qualify?
A kite school needs a published, claimed profile with accurate contact information, lesson types and safety details. A minimum of 3 community reviews, an average rating of 4.0 or above, and a profile completeness score of 60%+ are required for eligibility.
How can a kite shop qualify?
A kite shop needs a claimed profile with gear categories, service details and accurate contact. The same minimum review and profile completeness thresholds apply.
How can a trip organizer qualify?
A kite trip organizer needs a published trip profile with clear dates or season, itinerary details, inclusion/exclusion information and organizer contact. Trip profiles must have at least 3 community reviews to be eligible.
Are awards based on Google reviews?
No. KSO Awards are based entirely on KSO community reviews submitted by registered riders. Google reviews are displayed separately for reference and never count toward award eligibility or KSO Trust Score.
When will 2026 award winners be announced?

Currently, awards are determined algorithmically from eligible listings. The best way riders can influence the outcome is by writing honest, detailed reviews on KSO for businesses they have used.
How does KSO prevent fake trust signals?
All KSO reviews pass moderation before counting toward ratings and eligibility. KSO uses a combination of automated detection and manual review to identify suspicious patterns. Listings found to have manipulated reviews may lose eligibility status.
