The school's KSO listing must be live and publicly visible.
Claimed by owner
An owner or authorized team member must have claimed and verified the listing.
Profile completeness ≥ 60%
Contact info, description, lesson types, photos and services should be present.
Minimum 3 community reviews
At least three verified KSO rider reviews must pass moderation.
Average KSO rating ≥ 4.0
Based on KSO community reviews only — not Google, not Tripadvisor.
Safety/rescue info present
Rescue service information should be filled in (yes / no / details).
Lesson types described
At least beginner, intermediate or advanced lesson types should be listed.

KSO Kite School Awards highlight schools with strong rider reviews, verified ownership and clear safety information. They are a useful starting signal — but always confirm local conditions, rescue setup and what's included before booking a lesson or course.

Can a kite school apply for KSO Awards?
There is no application process. Awards are determined automatically from eligible directory listings. Claim your KSO profile, complete it fully and encourage genuine rider reviews — that is the entire path to eligibility.
Does a school need to be KSO Verified to be eligible?
The profile needs to be at least claimed. KSO Verified status increases the scoring bonus but is not a hard requirement for basic eligibility. Schools with full verification score higher across all award categories.
Are awards based only on ratings?
No. Ratings account for 40% of the candidate score. Profile completeness (30%), number of moderated reviews (20%) and verification level (10%) complete the formula. A highly-rated school with a sparse profile scores lower than one with consistent reviews and strong profile quality.
What safety information matters?
KSO looks for whether rescue service information is present, whether lesson types are described, whether certifications are listed if applicable and whether the profile describes the learning environment honestly. Strong safety signals contribute to scoring within every visible category.
Can schools pay to win?
No. Payment has zero effect on award eligibility or scoring. Featured Partner placement is a separate commercial arrangement that is always clearly labeled and never influences awards.
How can riders influence Community Choice?
By submitting honest, detailed KSO reviews for schools they have visited. All reviews pass moderation before counting. The more moderated authentic reviews a school has, the stronger its community signal.
What is KSO Verified Excellence?
KSO Verified Excellence is reserved for schools that hold KSO Approved status — the highest editorial trust level — combined with strong community ratings and a fully completed profile. It is the highest award a school can receive.
