Chabloz and Kajiya win 2026 GKA Freestyle World Titles at Ilha do Guajiru

Maxime Chabloz and Bruna Kajiya took the 2026 GKA Freestyle Kite World Titles at the season finale in Brazil, both also winning the event.

Maxime Chabloz (CHE) and Bruna Kajiya (BRA) are the 2026 GKA Freestyle Kite World Champions. Both also won the season finale at Ilha do Guajiru, Brazil, which ran from 21 to 24 October 2026.

Chabloz clinched the title by reaching the final. In the second semi-final he landed a Double Half Cab in the last round of tricks to move into second place. In the final he pulled a Slim 7 that put him first by a fraction of a point. Karim Mahmoud (EGY) took second, the best result of his career, and Anthar Racca (MEX) was third. Erick Anderson (BRA) finished fourth. The final world championship podium was Chabloz, Mahmoud and Davi Ribeiro (BRA) in third. Chabloz was third in Mexico and won in Borkum earlier in the season.

Kajiya won the women's final ahead of Claudia León (ESP) and Phoebe Rocher (FRA), who made her first final. Francesca Bagnoli was fourth. It was Kajiya's seventh World Title. She won all three events on the 2026 calendar. Second in the championship was León, third Martyna Konkel (POL).

Reigning men's champion Finn Flügel could not travel to Brazil. Twenty-four men and fourteen women registered. The tour last visited the venue in 2020. Carlos Mario returned to competition but went out in round 2, losing to Anthar Racca by 0.27 points. Davi Ribeiro was eliminated in round 3 for missing a required trick category. João Lucas was injured on his first trick in round 3.

KitesurfingOfficial

KitesurfingOfficial is made by people who actually kite. We have spent years in the scene, on the beaches, at the events and behind the camera, and we built this platform to give riders one honest home for all of it: spots, gear, athletes, jobs and news. Our team checks facts before they go live, links every story to its source and writes the way riders talk. And if the wind is good, publishing can wait a few hours. You know how it is.
