Duotone Kiteboarding has released the Evo D/LAB 2027, the top model of its Evo line. The brand announced the kite with a product clip on its own YouTube channel. Retail listings show eight sizes from 6 to 13 square metres.
What the Evo D/LAB is
The Evo D/LAB is the flagship build of the Evo, a three strut tube kite that Duotone offers in three constructions. The standard Evo uses a Dacron frame. The Evo SLS moves to the lighter Penta TX. The D/LAB replaces the frame material with Aluula, a composite that is lighter and stiffer than woven polyester. Less weight in the airframe changes how a kite flies: it drifts longer, turns with less input and holds its shape in gusts. As a rule the low weight matters most in the big sizes, where a heavy kite is the first to sit back in a lull.
What Duotone says about it
Duotone positions the Evo D/LAB 2027 as its most complete performance kite for freeride, big air and freestyle. The company describes explosive jumping, direct handling, dynamic loops and enough drift for waves. Those are the brand's words, not test results. What the spec sheet does support: a size run from 6 to 13 square metres covers light wind freeride as well as high wind big air, which is a wider spread than most single models offer.
The D/LAB family
The construction is not unique to the Evo. Duotone also builds the Neo, the Rebel and the Juice in D/LAB versions, each an Aluula take on an existing model. Within that family the Evo D/LAB is the all round member, where the Rebel D/LAB leans towards big air and the Neo D/LAB towards waves.
Model year 2027, on sale in 2026
Kite model years run ahead of the calendar, so the 2027 Evo D/LAB arrives while 2026 kites are still current stock. For the outgoing generation that usually means falling prices. Riders who do not need the newest revision can watch the 2026 model instead.
