Ponta Preta is a legendary, expert-only wave spot on the Southwest coast of Sal. It is world-renowned for its powerful, fast, and hollow right-hand reef break. The spot works best with NE trade winds—which blow side-offshore—and large Atlantic swells, typically peaking between January and March. There is no beginner infrastructure here; the spot is strictly for experienced wave riders. Rescue support and boat cover are highly recommended due to the offshore wind and sharp reef. Its proximity to Santa Maria makes it accessible for experts looking to test their skills on one of the Atlantic's most iconic waves.
