Défi Wind has turned Gruissan on France's Tramontane coast into a pilgrimage: since 2001 the event has grown into the biggest windsurfing race in the world, with over a thousand riders on a single start line. The Défi Kite brings exactly that spirit to kiteboarding — a mass start, long downwind legs along Plage des Chalets and the Tramontane at full power. Less a regatta than a festival: amateurs race the same course as world champions.
