About this organization

Red Bull runs two of the events that set the bar in Big Air kiteboarding. King of the Air, revived in Cape Town in 2013, is the sport's best-known invitational: riders qualify partly through video entries, the event sits on a waiting window inside the Cape Doctor season, and the final only runs when the southeaster is genuinely nuking. Red Bull Megaloop at Noordwijk pushes the same idea further. It activates when a North Sea storm delivers something in the region of 35 knots or more, and the invited riders throw megaloops and nothing else. Neither event has a date in the ordinary sense. Both hold a window, watch the forecast and go when the wind arrives, which is why anyone travelling to ride or to watch books flexibility before they book anything else. Invitations, entry criteria and the green light come from Red Bull.

Why this profile is here

These two events are where a lot of the Big Air riders on KSO made their name, so the organiser gets a profile of its own. It is also a useful reminder of how the format works: a wind-window event has no weekend to book, and understanding that before you plan a Cape Town trip saves money.
