About this organization

The International Kiteboarding Association is the World Sailing class association for kiteboard racing. Its main class is Formula Kite, a hydrofoil discipline sailed on registered equipment, which was raced at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Most of what a class association does is unglamorous and load-bearing. The IKA writes and maintains the class rules, runs the equipment registration that decides which kites, boards and foils may be used, and publishes the entry and ranking systems behind the Formula Kite World Championships, the continental titles and the youth series. Registration is what keeps a foiling fleet honest: everyone races against the same approved list, so a result says something about the sailing. Rule documents, entry lists and championship results are published by the IKA itself.
