Located near Itarema in Ceará, Ilha do Guajiru is a massive flatwater lagoon known for its vast riding area and shallow banks. It is a top-tier destination for freeride and freestyle progression, benefiting from the consistent E/SE trade winds that blow reliably from July to January. The lagoon is particularly well-suited for beginners and those looking to master new tricks due to the shallow water and lack of significant waves inside. At high tide, the water can become slightly choppy, but the waist-deep sections remain excellent for learning. The infrastructure is well-developed with dedicated kite hotels, schools, and rescue boats right on the beach. Riders should be mindful of the tide cycles, as the lagoon can become too shallow to ride at dead low tide. The area directly in front of the hotels can also get busy, so finding space further upwind or downwind is often recommended. It remains one of Brazil's most accessible spots for rapid progression.
