KSO Editorial Scores
The same ten characteristics, scored 1–10 for every kite in the index — comparable across all brands. How we rate →
It will go up, but the outline is tuned for a flat, fast pop rather than for the long vertical send.
A freestyle kite is meant to put you back down on the landing, not to keep you up there.
Quick enough to be where you need it between two rotations, which is what the setting options are for.
Direct and present. Harlem gives two steering settings, so the number is a starting point, not a fixed value.
Five struts on a stiff frame relaunch predictably; a freestyle kite is not optimised for it.
Stiff, fast and built to stop where you put it — the opposite of what drift asks for.
This is the score the kite is built around: a super-stiff PROWELD Dacron leading edge is what makes slack arrive on time.
Sizes start at 9 and Harlem's own chart starts the 13 at 11 — this kite expects wind.
Stiff frames point well, and a freestyle rider needs to get back to the same patch of water all session.
Three sizes, a pro's name on it and two pairs of settings to understand. Not a kite to learn on.

About this kite
The Hadlow Pro is Harlem's freestyle kite and the only one that carries a rider's name, Aaron Hadlow's. It comes in three sizes — 9, 11 and 13 square metres — which is the size run of a kite built for one job rather than for a quiver.
Stiffness is the whole design. Harlem gives it five struts and what it calls a super-stiff PROWELD Dacron leading edge under a Flight_X canopy, and describes the pairing directly: "the stiffer structure keeps the kite locked in shape, while the softer Dacron creates a dampened feel that softens gusts and enhances slack." That is the freestyle brief in one sentence — a kite has to stop dead when you unhook so the slack arrives on time, and it has to swallow the gust that would otherwise arrive with it. This is also one of only two pages in Harlem's range where the brand writes a frame fabric outright, which is why the spec row above is filled here.
The per-size table carries the corroboration. The Hadlow Pro is the heaviest kite in the range at every size it shares with another model — 2.70 kilograms in the 9 against the Peak's 2.64 and the Thrive V2's 2.58 — which is what a deliberately stiff airframe costs. And the recommended line stays 22 metres on all three sizes, including the 13, where every other Harlem kite that size moves to 24. A shorter line on a big kite is faster and more direct, and slower is not what anyone wants mid-rotation.
Harlem also offers two power settings and two steering settings, stating that they exist without describing what either changes — so neither do we. The wind chart runs 16 to 34 on the 9, 13 to 27 on the 11 and 11 to 21 on the 13, printed without a unit. Note that the Hadlow Pro Bar is a separate product with its own page, not a variant of this kite.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes does the Harlem Hadlow Pro come in?+
Three: 9, 11 and 13 square metres. Harlem publishes wind ranges of 16 to 34, 13 to 27 and 11 to 21 respectively, without stating a unit.
Does the Hadlow Pro come with a bar?+
No. The Hadlow Pro Bar is a separate Harlem product. The brand recommends the pairing but does not sell it as one item.
What settings does the Hadlow Pro have?+
Two power settings and two steering settings. Harlem states that they exist without describing what each one changes, so neither do we.
