KSO Editorial Scores

The same ten characteristics, scored 1–10 for every kite in the index — comparable across all brands. How we rate →

Jump / Boost9/10

This is the kite in Harlem's range built for height: five struts, a big-air outline and the brand's own positioning behind it.

Hangtime9/10

Five struts hold the profile at the top of the arc, which is where a big-air kite either keeps you up or does not.

Turning speed6/10

A five-strut big-air platform turns deliberately rather than quickly; that is the trade it makes for stability.

Bar pressure4/10

Harlem describes medium-light bar pressure in its own words — a kite meant to be loaded and sent, not muscled.

Relaunch7/10

Five struts and a fixed pulley bridle relaunch reliably, though not as instantly as the three-strut kites beside it.

Wave drift5/10

Harlem does not list wave for the Peak, and a stiff five-strut big-air kite is not where drift comes from.

Unhooked pop5/10

Usable, but the freestyle brief in this range belongs to the Hadlow Pro, which Harlem built for it explicitly.

Low-end power7/10

Seven sizes from 6 to 12 cover the working range; the 12 is the one that turns a marginal day into a session.

Upwind drive8/10

A five-strut kite with a fixed bridle holds its angle under load, which is what upwind actually asks for.

Ease of use6/10

Priced and built at the top of Harlem's range, and it expects a rider who already knows what to do with it.

About this kite

The Peak is the five-strut kite in Harlem's range and the one built to go up. The brand positions it for big air and freeride and sells it in seven sizes, 6 to 12 square metres, at the top of its price list.

The airframe pairs a ProWeld leading edge with a fixed pulley bridle system under a Twincross FlyLite canopy. As on most of Harlem's pages the construction is named and the frame fabric is not, so the spec row above stays empty rather than borrowing a material from a sibling model. The detail Harlem does volunteer is feel: it describes medium-light bar pressure, which is the choice a brand makes when it wants a kite loaded up and sent rather than muscled. Five struts on a big-air outline is the conventional recipe for holding shape through the top of a jump and through a loop.

The per-size table says the rest, and one row in it is worth reading closely. The Peak's wind chart starts the 6 at 28 — the highest bottom figure of any kite in the range, against 24 on the Thrive V2's 5 and 22 on the Flow's 5. This is not a kite that rescues a marginal day; it is the one you reach for when the day is already on. Weight runs 2.19 kilograms in the 6 to 3.15 in the 12, with 22-metre lines through the 10 and 24 metres on the 11 and 12.

Nothing in Harlem's wind chart carries a unit, on this page or any other in the range, so the numbers above are reproduced as printed.

Frequently asked questions

How many struts does the Harlem Peak have?+

Five. Harlem describes a five-strut airframe with a ProWeld leading edge and a fixed pulley bridle system.

What is the difference between the Harlem Peak and the Thrive?+

Struts and intent. The Peak is the five-strut big-air kite; the Thrive is the three-strut all-rounder Harlem positions for freeride, big air and wave together.

What bar pressure does the Peak have?+

Harlem calls it medium-light. The brand gives no measured value, and neither do we.
